The Rooting Process

Root Verizon Galaxy S4 I545 Android 4.2.2 Jellybean Without Factory Reset
Now we describe the rooting procedure step by step to root the verizon galaxy S4 which is divided in three parts.
Part 1 : Flashing The VRUAMDK Pre-Release Kernel
- Switch off your phone and boot it into download mode by pressing the volume down,home and power key simultaneously.For download mode tutorial click here.
- Now open odin on your windows pc and connect your galaxy S4 to pc via USB cable.Let odin identifies your smartphone.When your phone is recognized by odin the field under <ID:COM> in odin will turn blue and you will see a message "<ID:0/011> Added!!".This means that your phone is recognized and is ready to be flashed.
- Make sure that "Auto Reboot" and "F.Reset Time" are checked and do not check others boxes in the "Options" menu.
- Now click the PDA button and browse your pc for the VRUAMD2 pre-release kernel file which you downloaded from the above link.Its name is "SCH-I545_MD2_423399_Kernel.tar.md5".
- Press the Start button.It will take few seconds to flash.Your device will reboot when odin finishes the task.
This is the main part in which we root the verizon galaxy S4 with motochopper root exploit tool.Below is the step wise step procedure.
- On your phone goto "Settings>More>About phone>Build number".Click this Build number about 7 times to unlock the Developer options.
- In Security settings menu enable "Unknown sources".
- In Developer options enable "USB Debugging".
- In Developer options settings uncheck "Verify apps via USB".
- Now connect your galaxy S4 to pc via USB cable and make sure that device is on.
- In the motochopper folder you extracted earlier launch "run.bat" for the root to be applied on your phone.The motochopper root exploit tool will ask you to press any key to continue.Press any key to go further.
- When you press the key you will see a notification on your galaxy S4 asking you to accept the new computer connection.Tap on this notification and select "Always allow" and select OK.
- After motochopper completes rooting,your phone will reboot.Now goto play store app and download SuperSU latest version.
- Open SuperSU app to update the binary itself and complete the root.This step is very important if you skip this then your smartphone will not be rooted.
- You can check the "Root Checker" app to check that your verizon galaxy S4 is rooted.
This is the final step that will complete the rooting on your verizon galaxy S4 I545.This part includes flashing the stock kernel that came with your phone out of the box.This part is exactly same as that of part 1.
- Switch off your phone.
- Now reboot the smartphone in download mode as you did in part 1.
- Open odin on your pc and connect your galaxy S4 to pc via USB cable.
- Wait till odin recognizes your phone.The field under "<ID:COM>" will turn blue when odin recognizes your devices.
- Make sure that "Auto Reboot" and "F.Reset Time" are checked and do not check others boxes in the "Options" menu.
- Now click PDA and browse for this file named "SCH-I545_MDK_562219_Kernel.tar.md5".
- Load this file into odin and click the Start button.It will take few seconds to flash.Your phone will reboot.
- You are done.
