Good news for all android users as Whatsapp has finally got the material design makeover with a completely new user interface, new colorful icons and cool animations. This app version is Whatsapp 2.12.38 which is currently in beta phase and is not yet live on the Google Play Store. It can be downloaded from its official site or you can download it from here. Since the launch of android 5.0 lollipop the material design can be seen in all Google Apps, Facebook, Messenger etc, and now it comes to Whatsapp. The new material design in Whatsapp was much anticipated and it looks great to have it on my android cell phone. 1. Menu Bar : The menu bar is dark green in color and collapses when we scroll down on the main screen. The icon next to 'Search' changes when you tap the different tabs.
2. Chat Screen : The chat screen is also updated with dark green color and new icons. Tap the attachment icon and you will see a list of completely new sharing icons that closes and opens up with an animation. The microphone button changes to 'Send' button with an animation when you type on the android keyboard. The smileys got more brighter and have better contrast that why they seem to have darker colors. The chat bubble and text input field is also changed.
3. Profile Picture : The profile picture is by default open in a bigger view when you tap a contact to check details. The profile picture collapses when you scroll up and comes in its full view when you scroll down. By tapping on the profile pic you can either save or share the picture with others.
4. Image Selector : The image selector from gallery is totally white in color which was previously black.
5. Shortcuts : The Chat shortcut, email chat shortcut and Archive chat shortcut can be accessed by long tapping on any contact on main chat screen where all your contacts appear.
Overall the latest Whatsapp Material Design is eye catching and it is still in testing phase, lets wait for more improvements, advancements and features.
