Exynos 7420 vs Intel Z3580

Exynos 7420 is the legacy chipset that can be found in the Samsung Galaxy S6. We previously posted about Samsung Exynos 7420 benchmarks and what we get is that this piece of hardware is most powerful till yet that a smartphone can have. Beating down the HTC One M9 and Apple iPhone 6, Galaxy S6 sits at the top of benchmarking results.

While Intel Z3580 is a mobile CPU that is currently powering the Asus Zenfone 2. Asus Zenfone 2 is an android smartphone with hardware and software specifications. It runs on android 5.0 lollipop out of box and supports upto 4 GB of RAM.

In this post I am going to compare Exynos 7420 with Intel Z3580 CPU.

In above data you can see that the Exynos 7420 has an octa core CPU with frequencies of 2.1 GHz and 1.5 GHz, while the Intel Z3580 is clocked at only 2.33 GHz, having 4 cores. The cache size of both chipsets is 2 MB. Exynos 7420 has LPDDR4 1600 MHz memory (RAM) which is the fastest memory types for mobile devices while Intel Z3580 supports LPDDR3 1600 MHz which is which is not as fast as the LPDDR4. The actual speed of RAM is measured in MT/s, (Mega Transfers per Second). The LPPDDR3 in Intel Z3580 yields only 1600 MT/s while LPDDR4 in Exynos 7420 yields 3200 MT/s. So you can see that Exynos 7420 has a much faster RAM than the Intel Z3580 which is almost half in speed. Also the die size is 14nm in Exynos 7420 which dissipates less heat than the Intel Z3580 22nm die size.

The Intel Z3580 scores only 43809 in Antutu 5 and is slight behind the galaxy note 4.

Exynos 7420 Benchmarks

 As you can see that Galaxy S6 score 68896 in Antutu 5 which is massively better than the Intel Z3580. This benchmark proves that the Galaxy S6 is much faster than the Asus Zenfone 2.
