The Motorola Moto G 1st Gen has now started receiving android 5.0.2 Lollipop update. The device was launched almost 2 years ago with android 4.4.4 KitKat and now it has received the lollipop update. Moto G was the first android smartphone from Motorola that started a line of smartphones having powerful specifications available at low price. With a revamped android 5.0.2 Lollipop update the Moto G will get a new look and feel as if it is a new cell phone.
The new software enhancements include Material Design with a brand new colorful looks and fluid animations. A new and important feature includes Ambient Display which can show notifications without turning on the full display. This will be activated when a notification arrives.
Another important feature includes 'Flashlight' in quick settings. Now no need to download separate flashlight apps to use your Moto G camera flash as torch. Guest mode lest you restrict access to your content. It is activated by default.
Moto G 1st Gen Lollipop adds native support for allowing trusted devices to keep your phone unlocked (such as your Moto 360, a Bluetooth car kit or headset, etc.). Smart Lock replaces the prior trusted device capability in your Motorola phone. Note that you will need to add your trusted devices back after the transition to Lollipop in the Security settings menu under Smart Lock.
The Moto G 4G in USA will not get this update as it will be update directly to android 5.1 Lollipop later.
