Android 6.0 Marshmallow was released in mid-2015 with new features like Doze mode, App permissions, app links, fingerprint scanner API and a better memory insights in Settings. If your phone is running android 6.0 then you are aware of the 'Memory' option in the 'Settings'. What do you think of this option? A RAM manager, absolutely not. It is not the default RAM manager that we used to see in Apps section in android 5.0 or below. This memory option does only tell about how the memory/RAM is being utilized by your phone and installed apps in a given time period. It doesn't tell the actual amount of free and the memory being used the apps. See the image below, there is no memory usage data.
How To Access Hidden RAM Manager In Android 6.0 Marshmallow
- Go to "Developer Options>Running services".
- On going to the above location you can see the default RAM manager in android dev options.
- From here you can see the running apps and identify which apps are using high memory.
- You can even stop them by just tapping the app again tapping "Stop".
- It is this simple.
Note: If you are unable to see "Developer Options" then go to "Settings>About phone". Here scroll down and find "Build number". Tap this 10 times to unlock it.
